Our belief is that the financial services industry can and should help people use money as a tool to achieve better results and greater fulfillment in their lives. Financial advisors must behave as if they are advising a family member; without an agenda, a sales motive or conflict of interest. To give top quality advice, the advisor must have financial degrees from a university and years of experience in finance so they can properly convey the pros and cons of their client’s options. It also requires the advisor to work independently, without influence to serve their client as the only boss they need to satisfy. We came to this belief separately, early in our careers.

We love visitors and snowbirds, but this is our home. We live in Sarasota, work in Sarasota, our children go to school in Sarasota, we attend church in Sarasota, and we participate in the Sarasota community.

Our Investment

While others use temporary office space in town, we invested in our office (between Bee Ridge and Fruitville but near Route 75 for convenience). Our office is open to visitors during working hours – stop by for a cup of coffee.

Our Commitment

Atlas Fiduciary’s principal, Dr. Mattia, is committed to the profession and the community. Six years ago upon moving to Sarasota she was hired by the Dean at USF to work with the business college and the state of Florida to create a new degree program so students can learn to become Certified Financial Planners. Five years later this new program is now thriving with many students enrolled in the program.
Dr. Mattia’s PhD thesis was focused on Women and Money so knew the stats where 78% of single female headed households in Florida are below the Alice threshold1 and baby boom women are less financially literate than men, putting them at risk when they become divorced or widowed. Many of these women seek assistance from the Women’s Resource Center (WRC), a 501(c)(3) located in Sarasota, Manatee and Venus. Dr. Mattia wanted to help so she created the Women’s Money Empowerment program at WRC, where women (or anyone in need) can receive pro bono financial advice, financial education and overall financial guidance as they navigate through life transitions.

ALICE, an acronym for Asset Limited, Income Constrained, Employed, is a new way of defining and understanding the struggles of households that earn above the Federal Poverty Level, but not enough to afford a bare-bones household budget.
